Introducing the White Rock Pozzolan Project: A Premier SCM Source in the Intermountain West

Western Cobalt is pleased to present a unique opportunity to secure a long-term supply of high-quality natural pozzolan from our White Rock Project in Iron County, Utah. Spanning approximately three square miles, this extensive deposit contains tens of millions of tons of highly reactive pozzolanic tuff. With numerous surface outcrops and low overburden, the project is ideal for low-cost, high-volume extraction, offering a consistent and reliable source of superior Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM) to meet the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance concrete.

The quality of the White Rock pozzolan is confirmed through laboratory testing. Using the Modified Chapelle test, samples consistently demonstrate high levels of reactivity, with results ranging from 515 to over 640 mg/g Ca(OH)₂ consumed. These values are indicative of a premium pozzolan capable of significantly enhancing concrete strength, durability, and resistance to chemical attack. The material’s soft, friable nature ensures it grinds to a very fine powder with minimal energy input, translating directly to lower processing costs and superior performance for cement and ready-mix producers.
Strategically located to serve major markets, the White Rock Project boasts exceptional transportation and logistics. The deposit is accessible via a well-maintained county road, ensuring efficient truck haulage. Crucially, the site is situated just seven miles from a main line of the Union Pacific Railroad, providing direct and cost-effective rail access to markets throughout the Western United States. This combination of proven quality, massive scale, and superior logistics makes the White Rock Project a premier asset for any company looking to secure a competitive advantage in the modern concrete industry.
