The Shingle Creek Project: Unrivaled Logistics and Tiered Pozzolan Quality
Western Cobalt is proud to feature the Shingle Creek Project, a strategically positioned asset offering unparalleled logistical advantages for the cement and ready-mix industries. Located less than three highway miles from Interstate 70 and approximately seven miles from the I-15 corridor, this project provides direct, high-speed access to major transportation arteries, ensuring minimal haulage costs and efficient distribution to markets across the Western US. This superior logistical setup is paired with a multi-tiered pozzolan deposit, allowing producers to source various grades of material from a single, convenient location.
The centerpiece of the project is a distinct, 100-acre deposit of eolian zeolite tuff. This exceptionally clean, highly reactive natural pozzolan is characterized by its fine particle size and near-zero overburden, allowing for simple, low-cost extraction. Modified Chapelle testing confirms its high performance, with reactivity values consistently measuring at 614.9 mg/g Ca(OH)₂ consumed. This premium material is ideal for high-strength and high-performance concrete applications where durability and quality are paramount.
In addition to the high-grade eolian tuff, the Shingle Creek Project encompasses several hundred more acres containing a vast resource of strong, commercial-grade pozzolan. Ongoing testing and delineation of this material show consistent and reliable reactivity in the 510.6 to 521.7 mg/g range. This provides an excellent, large-volume source for general-purpose concrete mixes, offering significant improvements in performance and sustainability over standard OPC blends. The combination of a top-tier specialty material and a large-volume commercial-grade resource, all situated in a logistically unmatched location, makes the Shingle Creek Project a uniquely versatile and valuable asset.
